Commitment to successful integration in Hamburg

The TO HUUS Foundation helps migrants to settle in Hamburg on a long-term basis. Its approach is based on three key pillars: learning, housing and work. Through educational programmes such as the “Hamburg Tenancy Licence” or, in future, the “Job Licence”, the foundation imparts practical knowledge that provides guidance and makes it easier to live independently.

Another key focus is the provision of social housing. This enables people who have often had to live in temporary accommodation for years to move into their own flat – a fundamental prerequisite for genuine integration and career prospects.

In addition, the STARTBAHN project brings people looking for housing together with companies in urgent need of staff, thereby creating direct pathways into the labour market. The foundation’s work is supported by a network of dedicated volunteers who assist with moving in, renovations or career guidance. This commitment is further made possible by donations – including from the company Dr. Weigert, which provides financial support to the foundation and thereby contributes to integration and social participation in Hamburg.
