By returning and reconditioning industrial packaging via A. Witt & Co. GmbH, a total of approx. 440,003 kg of CO₂ emissions were saved. This figure not only stands for climate-friendly decisions, but above all for an active commitment to the circular economy and resource conservation.
Dr. Weigert consistently focused on the return and reprocessing of various types of packaging:
- 2,631 washable IBCs (1000l & 600l)
- By reusing them instead of producing new ones, between 98.71 kg and 115.84 kg of CO₂ were avoided per container.
- 589 IBCs with inner container replacement
- Replacing the inner container also saves large amounts of CO₂ – between 92.99 kg and 99.73 kg per container.
- 5,768 kg of recycled steel drums
- Recycled steel reduces CO₂ emissions by 2.20 kg per kilogram – a strong argument for genuine recycling.
- 43,516 kg of plastic containers for substitution
- Here, 1.57 kg of CO₂ was saved per kilogram of plastic.
What does 440 tons of CO₂ actually mean?
To put it into perspective: that corresponds to approximately...
- the CO₂ emissions of over 3.5 million kilometers driven by car,
- the annual CO₂ sequestration of around 35,000 trees,
- or the average annual consumption of over 50 households in Germany.
A strong signal for the industry
With this consistent commitment, Dr. Weigert is demonstrating how the circular economy can be put into practice – and that sustainable packaging solutions are not only possible, but also highly effective.
A win for the company, for the environment, and for the future.
